Person with Disability : Nick Vujicic

This morning a friend of mine shared a video with me of a person with disability. The video focuses on a man, Nick Vujicic, with profound physical disabilities–he was born without arms or legs. Nick says he felt worthless as a young boy and became suicidal.

Nick credits his parents with always giving him a message of love, truth, and hope. Instilling love, truth, and hope into your child helps save your child from heartache. This is especially true when the world lays it worthlessness upon him. Being a person with disability issues doesn’t have to define a child’s success at all.

Our son was belittled and devalued by others. Homeschooling was our way of rescuing him from low self-image. He was adopting low self-worth because of the way he was treated.  My son was depressed as described in the article: Overcoming Learning Disabilities through Homeschooling.

While we treated him with the love and respect he deserved, not everyone did.

We encouraged our son to embrace his strengths. We did our best to give him hope that he could be or do anything he set his mind toward. Our outcome was GREAT because we believed in our son.

Every child–Your child–deserves no less! Don’t let being a person with disability issues define your child’s future.

The video also includes the message that God and Jesus can lift a person up in any circumstance.  Nick Vujicic says, “You can either be angry for what you don’t have, or be thankful for what you do have.  Do your best, and God will do the rest.”

Also, there is an explicit Christian message in the video. If messages of faith easily offend you, then you might want to bypass watching the video. Otherwise, it is a very inspiring video to watch. This video is uplifting in every way, and it’s less than five minutes long. Therefore, it is especially encouraging to anyone whose circumstances make them low on hope.
