What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we retain the data the user enters into the comments form. The visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string are also collected to help with spam detection and blocking.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
When you leave a comment and enter your name and email address, that information is visible to Administrators of this website. Administrators may email you directly if you’ve asked a question that would benefit from a personalized email response. Your email address and the information you enter into the comment form(s) will be retained indefinitely, unless you request your information be removed. If you request your information to be removed, your comment will also be deleted.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Other visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the web, so it is your responsibility to make sure you do not upload embedded information.
Contact forms
If you contact us via email, the email is often downloaded and read on a personal computing device. The information you send via email is not secure. Your information is used to respond to requests you may send via email. In addition to your email address and information you enter into the contact form, your IP address is logged and it will be able to be associated with any other information you enter into the contact form. The IP address is used to block users who abuse contact or comment forms on this website.

This website participates in several affiliate and commission-based programs. The providers we link to often set their own cookies to track your visit if you click on one of their links. Those companies’ cookies are active for varied intervals of time in which we may receive commissions if you purchase a product from their website. To determine their individual cookies policies, visit the site(s) of the companies with which we partner. The primary companies we have an affiliate relationship with are Google Adsense, Amazon, Facebook, All About Learning Press, Rakuten, K5 Learning, TimesTales, PRIDE Reading, and Christian Book Distributors. Please visit their privacy policies to see the specific details about the cookies they set to track your visits to affiliates’ websites.
Embedded content from other websites

Analytics
Who we share your data with
We don’t directly share visitor information with other parties other than the tracking information which is shared via the Facebook pixel. Information you enter on our website that is displayed publicly, like in a comment, is visible to all other visitors to the website.
You should be aware that your IP address is used to track your visit to our website. Visits are tracked by Google analytics, by our security Firewall provider, and by our webhost. The information provided to us by these tools other than the IP address is not personally identifiable, but includes demographic information such as country of origin, time of day visited, links you followed when coming to or departing from our site, etc. Your IP address, while provided to us through these tracking tools, does not enable us to determine your individual personally identifiable information.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. You can request we delete your comment at any time by providing your name, email address, and approximate date of your comment and we will delete your comment.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their own personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Additional information
How we protect your data
Data protection on this website is provided through standard protection protocols of our hosting provider, which is Hostgator. Additionally, we have security protection programs on this website in an attempt to prevent hackers from accessing any information.
If you send us an email, that information is usually downloaded to a personal computing device to be read. If someone intercepts your email, hacks into the personal computer, or steals the device and obtains access, your information could be read by an unintended third party.
Our data protection measures include using typical consumer market protections through WordPress security plugins and Virus protection software on our computers.
What data breach procedures we have in place
If our computers are breached, we will work to recover any data that may be lost and will work with our security and hosting providers to determine what data may have been compromised. Since a data breach may result in the loss of all information we have on hand, we will contact users identified by email addresses regarding data breaches to the greatest extent that we are able to do so from recovered or identified data.
What third parties we receive data from
Through our affiliate relationship with All About Learning Press, we may be aware of purchases you have made through our affiliate links with them.
We receive non-personally identifiable information about our visitors through Google Analytics.
What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data
Other than automatic hacker and spam blocking tools we use, we don’t have any integrated or automated decision making built into our systems at this time.
