Ken Robinson on Education, which leads to homeschooling
Ken Robinson On Early Childhood Education Issues
One of my favorite people to follow in the educational world is Ken Robinson. He is a very intelligent and funny individual, and he shares meaningful insights about education with the world.
I thought I’d share a couple of Ken’s videos to help give you a different way of thinking about public education. When you realize how public schools “teach” your child, it may help you embrace homeschooling! Your child as a unique individual who deserves a unique education.
Both of the videos below are entertaining to watch, and I find the second one particularly captivating.
Ken Robinson On Schools Killing Creativity
I found this first video as I was researching Multiple Intelligence theory. In this video, Ken talks about why we need to nurture creativity in our children.
Ken talks about how creativity and intelligence are affected in our schools today. It is well worth your time to listen to the whole video. It will open in a new window.
If you’re like me, this video WILL make you think more clearly about valuing the skills, creativity, and multiple intelligences in your child!
Ken Robinson On Changing Educational Paradigms
Also from Ken Robinson, I like his ideas about changing the educational paradigm. He talks about how we are alienating kids from education in school today. He also talks about the “epidemic” of ADHD and how to educate kids without killing their creativity.
Since homeschooling allows you to focus on your child’s individual needs, you can provide an education that supports the heart of who your child is.
This is the link to the second video, which will open in a new tab or window:
Avoiding Early Childhood Education Issues That KILL Your Child’s Desire to LEARN
What do you think? Does this make you want to homeschool? Maybe it inspires you to transform public education or makes you less happy with the status quo.
If nothing else, Ken Robinson provides a lot of food for thought about how we are currently educating the masses of children in the world. I, for one, am for embracing non-conformity. I’m also inspiring each of my guys to his own level of greatness. How about you and YOUR child?
